Lebanon’s City Parks

Lebanon missouri ParkLebanon is not only a beautiful city with down home friendly people, but also a city dedicated to preserving historical structures and providing family friendly entertainment and recreation.  Lebanon, Missouri has nine city parks that are well maintained, gorgeous and safe.  On any given summer day you will often find families on picnics, little league baseball games, joggers and walkers taking advantage of the tracks, children enjoying the playgrounds and a host of other public activities.  But families are not the only ones who take advantage of these tranquil spots of nature.  People will often take a moment out of their hectic work schedule to enjoy a sandwich or just a moment of relaxation during their lunch hours.  No matter where you work in or near Lebanon, there is always a peaceful park just a few minutes drive away.

Here is a list of the city parks that can be found scattered throughout Lebanon, Missouri:

 

Atchley Park

Located at 1805 Lynn St., North Highway 5

This park offers several pavilions, each with lighting and electric.  There is playground equipment for the children, horseshoe pits for the children at heart, a paved walking and running trail and four baseball fields with bleachers, restrooms and a concession stand.

Atchley Park is open to the public from 6:00 am -10:30 pm daily.

 

Boswell Park

Located at 1205 Kent Drive

Boswell Park sits right in the heart of Lebanon just off of Elm street.  It is one of the most popular parks in Lebanon.  Boswell is the home of Boswell Aquatic Center, a public outdoor swimming facility with two water slides.  The park also houses a nine hole Frisbee (disc) golf course, a basketball court, horseshoe pits, playground, and two lighted tennis courts.

Boswell Park is open to the public from 6:00 am -10:30 pm daily.

 

Gasconade Park

Located at 4th Street and Harrison

Gasconade Park is a little harder to find if you are not familiar with Lebanon.  Located just a couple of minutes west of Jefferson street (one of the two main streets that run through Lebanon).  The park has two picnic shelters, a playground, and a basketball court.

Gasconade Park is open to the public from 6:00 am -10:30 pm daily.

 

Harke Park

Harke Park is located at 2901 National Street

Harke Park is one of Lebanon’s newest parks and possibly one of the most beautiful.  It is located just on the outskirts of town, nestled behind Christian Health Care of Lebanon South.  It is easy for residents to forget that it is even there because it is tucked away.  This means that it is often one of the most quiet and underused parks in Lebanon.

The park has a gazebo with lights, barbecue grill and electric.  It also has two paved walking trails.  One trail is a half mile and the other is a one mile trail.  There are picnic areas, a fenced playground, modern restrooms and a soccer field.

Harke Park is open to the public from 6:00 am -10:30 pm daily.

 

Nelson Park

Nelson park is located at 1523 Maple Lane

Nelson Park is the home for the Nelson Education Center which houses several different satellite college campuses.  The park is just about a minute drive from Boswell Park.  It has a lighted skate park, several horseshoe pits, two lighted shelters with electric, four baseball fields, a large fishing pond, and restrooms.

Nelson Park is open to the public from 6:00 am -10:30 pm daily.

 

Palmer Park

Located at 500 East Elm Street

Palmer Park is a small, well-kept park just behind the Cowan Civic Center and YMCA, just on the other side of the main parking lot.  There is a fairly new gazebo for relaxing and having a quiet bite to eat as well as a trail that surrounds the Civic Center.

Palmer Park is open to the public from 6:00 am -10:30 pm daily.

 

Spiller Park

Located at 488 Spiller Street

Spiller park is a small community park again located right in the heart of downtown.  It consists of a playground and a small picnic area.

Wallace Park

Lebanon’s newest park is located at 325 Harwood Avenue

Wallace Park is Lebanon’s newest city park.  This is another park that is located right in the downtown area, just minutes from the post office, most of the banks and most of the downtown shopping establishments.  The park houses a playground, a picnic shelter, a community center and Lebanon’s American Red Cross office.

Wallace Park is open to the public from 6:00 am -10:30 pm daily.

 

W.T. Vernon Park

Located in the Original Tower part of town on Mayfield Street.

W.T. Vernon Park is a small park located in the older part of Lebanon.  It features a picnic shelter, a small playground and public restrooms.

W.T. Vernon Park is open to the public from 6:00 am -10:30 pm daily.

If you can judge a city by the way it takes care of its citizens, then it is easy to see that Lebanon cares about its families.  The Lebanon government goes to great lengths to provide good clean family activities and places where people can go to still enjoy nature without having to travel great distances.
