Come join us at our new indoor facility called the Knight Auction Center, where you could check off the next thing on your want list! Not only do we hold auctions in our Knight Auction Center, but we also host On-Site Auctions.

    Knight Auction Service

    Our Story…

Knight Auction Service was started in 1958 by Gerald Knight, a graduate of the Mason City, IA auction school. Gerald began like most young auctioneers selling his fair share of benefits and pie suppers. Gerald remained active in the auction business until early 2011. As the auction business grew he made it a family affair with the help of his wife, Wanda, and their children.

    Knight Auction Service

Today Knight Auction Service, LLC is run by brothers, Jeff and Steve Knight. While following the old fashioned ideas on how to treat people fairly and run a business, are still the backbone of Knight Auction Service, LLC. The boys have introduced modern technologies into the auction arena; whether it be computerized clerking or online bidding, the Knight’s strive for top dollar on each item they sell.

If you need a “full service” auction firm to conduct an on-site auction or you need the Knight Auction Center indoor facility to move your items to, give us a call.

    About Laclede County

Lebanon, Missouri is the county seat for Laclede County. The County was organized February 24, 1849, and was named after Pierre Laclede, founder of St. Louis. The first Courthouse was constructed in 1851. It was sold for $50 in the 1870s, and the records were moved to another building in Lebanon.

Laclede Industries in Lebanon, Missouri was created thanks to the hard work and dedication of parents and concerned citizens. These forward thinking individuals wanted their children and family members to have safe and rewarding opportunities to work. They fought tirelessly to establish alternatives to traditional competitive employment. In 1965 their hard work brought about the passage of Senate Bill 52 which served as a springboard for the establishment of Extended Employment Sheltered Workshops across the State of Missouri.

What is now known as Laclede Industries, was originally incorporated as Lebanon Work Center on April 29, 1974. Parents and concerned citizens had finally succeeded in establishing a vocational program that focused on the abilities of their loved ones, rather than their disabilities.

The history of our business: I remember as a young boy when my Father worked in a similar business and ended up taking ownership of that company in 1999. There were five of us boys, so he needed a home business and Window Manufacturing fit the need. In 2003 he sold that Company and started over with an improved, fusion welded type of window. He operated that in Salem MO until 2017 when he relocated. That’s when I came back into the picture and decided to purchase the business. It was formerly known as Ozark Built-Rite Windows, and has re-opened as LACLEDE Windows LLC. This decision was made in an effort to support our growing family and allow me to work with my sons in the future. We look forward to serving you!

One Of The Ozarks Best-Loved Authors!

My first published work was a letter to the editor in Cape Girardeau, Mo., when I was 19. A protest against the war in Viet Nam, I was surprised when it appeared on the front page with my name withheld.

At first, I found that amusing until emotional, even violent responses appeared on the paper’s op-ed page. I was suddenly glad my name had not been published. More importantly, I realized how the power of the written word, even a simple letter from a college student, could move people to action. I’ve been hooked on writing ever since!

    Laura L. Valenti

    Las Palomitas” Available Now!

Las Palomitas—the story of a disillusioned American college student who inadvertently stumbles into a civil war in Central America, where he falls in love, stays too long, learning the bittersweet truth of life in the grown-up world of love, war, and politics while living in paradise.

    Laura L. Valenti

Over the years, writing has taken me many places, like three years in the Peace Corps in El Salvador, and a variety of jobs, including 10 years with the Laclede County Sheriff’s Department, the last three years of which I was the Jail Administrator for their 106 bed jail. I spent five years as a feature writer for the local newspaper, and in 1985, I wrote my first book, The Fifteen Most Asked Questions About Adoption. It sold out its first printing in the US & Canada in less than a year and brought me one of the top five National Adoption Activist Awards the next year. It stayed in print for 10 years.

Between raising kids (three of the four adopted, of course) and working, it would be 20 years before I wrote another book. In 2006, a colleague, Dick Dixon and I interviewed 30 southwest Missouri residents, all methamphetamine addicts in sustained recovery. They told us how they got on, how they got off, and how they stay off meth. Ozark Meth: A Journey of Destruction and Deliverance includes Ozark residents, their families and friends who are today actively contributing to their community after beating meth. They offer help to others to do the same and we published an update to it in 2013. Today, I’ve returned to freelance features and have also written four novels in The Heart of the Spring series as well as two others, Between the Star and the Cross.
