Lebanon, Missouri is the county seat for Laclede County. The County was organized February 24, 1849, and was named after Pierre Laclede, founder of St. Louis. The first Courthouse was constructed in 1851. It was sold for $50 in the 1870s, and the records were moved to another building in Lebanon.

The next Courthouse was not built until 1894. This building was destroyed by fire in 1920. The third Courthouse, costing $72,428, was completed in 1925. A law enforcement sales tax passed in August 1994. This tax allowed the building to comply with the “American Disabilities Act” and helped make office space more efficient.
