Greater Ozarks Centers for Advanced Professional Studies (GOCAPS) Lake Region is a unique yearlong learning experience that allows high school juniors and seniors to test drive future career options. Students develop real world professional skills as they are embedded in partner businesses through mentorships and capstone projects.

GOCAPS Lake Region is a consortium of four area school districts: Lebanon, Conway, Richland and Laquey. Lebanon Regional Economic Development, Inc. is the administrative partner of the GOCAPS program and Lebanon Public Schools serves as the fiscal agent.

Today Knight Auction Service, LLC is run by brothers, Jeff and Steve Knight. While following the old fashioned ideas on how to treat people fairly and run a business, are still the backbone of Knight Auction Service, LLC. Over the years, writing has taken me many places, like three years in the Peace Corps in El Salvador, and a variety of jobs, including 10 years with the Laclede County Sheriff’s Department, the last three years of which I was the Jail Administrator for their 106 bed jail. I spent five years as a feature writer for the local newspaper, and in 1985, I wrote my first book, The Fifteen Most Asked Questions About Adoption. It sold out its first printing in the US & Canada in less than a year and brought me one of the top five National Adoption Activist Awards the next year. It stayed in print for 10 years.

Between raising kids (three of the four adopted, of course) and working, it would be 20 years before I wrote another book. In 2006, a colleague, Dick Dixon and I interviewed 30 southwest Missouri residents, all methamphetamine addicts in sustained recovery. They told us how they got on, how they got off, and how they stay off meth. Ozark Meth: A Journey of Destruction and Deliverance includes Ozark residents, their families and friends who are today actively contributing to their community after beating meth. They offer help to others to do the same and we published an update to it in 2013. Today, I’ve returned to freelance features and have also written four novels in The Heart of the Spring series as well as two others, Between the Star and the Cross.

The Laclede Early Education Program is designed to serve preschool children with developmental delays and their families in Laclede and surrounding counties for whom this is the nearest appropriate program. The children are identified through participation in preschool screening and public awareness leading to referrals from physicians, parents/guardians, Division of Family Services, Health Department, public schools, Springfield Regional Center, Rolla Regional Center, Parents As Teachers, and others.

The program is based on a commitment to assist not only preschool children with developmental delays, but also their families. Parents are the most important teachers of young children and are encouraged to actively participate in all aspects of the program. They are encouraged to carry out the home therapeutic activities taught to them by the LEEP staff.

After spending countless tiring hours fighting with the installation of T-post clips we thought, “There has got to be a better way!” After many hours of inventing, testing, and yes failing, attempting to solve this problem, we finally came up with a quick and easy solution. That’s where Show-Me Twister fence tool began.

Willard Construction was founded in 1965 by Bill Don Willard in Lebanon, Missouri. The company started out small but quickly started completing large projects including both the Lebanon and Richland Airports. In 1972 Bill bought a quarry on the east side of Lebanon, and Willard Quarries was formed. Willard Asphalt was founded a year later in 1973 and Bill placed his son, Bradley, in charge of running the asphalt side of the business.

Willard Asphalt served about a 45 mile radius with just the Lebanon asphalt plant until 1992, when Bradley bought another plant and placed it in Willard Quarries in Buckhorn, Missouri. The Buckhorn plant was moved six years later, in 1998, to Willard Quarries in St. Robert, Missouri where it still is today. In 2004 a new plant was purchased for the Lebanon location and moved to the current location between Willard Quarries and I-44 Speedway in Sleeper, Missouri.
